A reader emailed me recently asking why their phone always alerts them twice for texts and emails, and buzzes twice as well. I sent him a reply, but realizing that it may be useful, I’ve been posting it elsewhere as well.
Tutorial Length: 2 Minutes
Operating System: iOS 7
Devices: iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch
Here’s how to fix the “Double Buzz”, as I’ve been calling it.
- Go into your settings app on your device.
- Go to “Notification Center” in your settings (it’s near the top).
- Scroll down the page a bit, and tap “messages”, or whichever app is buzzing too much for your tastes.
- Scroll down a little in that app’s notifications settings to “repeat alerts” and tap on it.
- Change from “once” to “never” (or whatever you want to change it to). Never means that it will only buzz once, rather than twice.
- Do this same process for any app you’d like to fix.
- Tweet this tutorial to show your appreciation for my saving your headache.
