App Review: Cinemagr.am- Where Pictures come alive

Pictures are a great art form, but sometimes they just seem a little dead and flat. Watching videos on the other hand often takes too much data, power, and time. If only there was something in between. There is. It is called a Cinemagram and it is a cross between a video and a photo. It is basically a photo, with a small portion animated, and the rest suspended and frozen. It leads to some pretty awesome results. Sound hard to create? Nope. It’s easy.

Using Cinemagram (free) you can simply take a video on your i-device, trim it down to a short length and start animating. To add motion to an object you simply use a brush tool over it, as you would in photoshop for something like that.

The editing works pretty well because you can zoom in and get precise. It can get a little tedious erasing your edits and redoing it until it is perfect though. But once you create it, you feel really good, and you can share it with your friends. The available sharing options are great. You can share it on Tumblr, via email, Twitter, facebook, or via embed on any website. I included a few examples below to show you how cool these can get. I encourage you to check this free app out in the store now. And if you have any comments on how to improve this blog, let me know in the comments.
