Screw You(Tube)

I absolutely hate the new Youtube. Why fix something that ain’t broken? I’m not opposed to change. I love Facebook Timeline. This whole new Youtube just kills me.

As a watcher this annoys me. It’s harder to find the stuff I like.
As a Content creator this frustrates me- because it’s harder for people to find my videos.

Here are a few ways Youtube F*cked up:

  1. Eliminating Friends Feature. When I didn’t want to subscribe to a friend I would friend them. This made communication easy and it was a nice way to speak with users and content creators. By eliminating this Youtube removes much of the social interaction.
  2. The new Homepage: This promotes content based on when it was published which means that if a user logs on once a day and subscribes to CNN which posts 10 videos a day then they will miss videos by people like Freddiew who post earlier. Videos get buried which means users see limited content.
  3. They took personalization out of the Youtube channel. Youtube channels used to be like school lockers. Everyone had their own which they decorated in nice colors and organized in the way they liked it. Now, the only customizable thing is the background. Youtube used to be a free and open community for artistic people. Now it is nothing more than a promotion tool for big movie studios.

No More.
